Oleg A. Nardid graduated from O.M. Gorky Kharkiv State University (now V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University) in 1970, defended his PhD thesis in 1979 and his doctoral thesis in 2012 in specialty “Cryobiology”. In 2014, he was granted a professor degree in the specialty “Cryobiology”. He started his carrier at the Institute for Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (IPC&C of the NAS of Ukraine) in 1972. Since 2000, he has been the Head of the Department of Cryobiophysics, and since 2015 – Deputy Director for Research at the IPC&C of the NAS of Ukraine.
Oleg A. Nardid is an outstanding expert in cryobiology, cell and molecular cryobiophysics, molecular biology and biomedical electronics. He is engaged in exploring the mechanisms of cryodamage and cryoprotection of biological objects during cryopreservation at molecular level. His findings are reported in more than 350 scientific publications, including 15 patents, 2 monographs, a textbook, a map of IR spectra of cryoprotectants, and guidelines for donor blood cell cryopreservation approved by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. He has authored and co-authored the papers published in Q1, Q2 journals, in particular in “Cryobiology” Journal. His h-index is ranked as 9 (Google Scholar) and 4 (Scopus).
Oleg A. Nardid is the UNESCO Chair in Cryobiology professor and the one of the Department of Physical and Biomedical Electronics and Integrated Information Technologies at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, where he teaches the author’s courses “Biosensorics” and “Microbiosensor Technology”. He was a scientific adviser of the projects of the Research Foundation of the State Committee of Ukraine on Science and Technology, the National Research Foundation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Ukraine, and the integrated program of fundamental research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine “Research in the field of sensor systems and technologies”. Oleg A. Nardid is a member of the Editorial Board of “Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine” Journal, the Specialized Academic Council for PhD and Doctoral Theses Defense in the specialties “cryobiology” and “cryomedicine”, and Deputy Head of the Academic Council of the IPC&C of the NAS of Ukraine.
