HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

In 1975, the Laboratory of Cryobiochemistry of Neuro-Humoral Systems was organized at the Department of Cryobiochemistry. Since 1984, it has been functioning as a department under the same name led by the Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, Prof. Utevsky A.M.

In 1987, the Department was renamed the Department of Cryobiochemistry and Pharmacology of Neuro-Humoral Systems, headed by Dr. of Biomedical Sciences, Prof. Volodymyr . A. Chuyko Since 1996, the Department has been headed by Dr. of Biology, Prof. Tetyana .P. Bondarenko In 2016, the Department was renamed as the Department of Cryoendocrinology. Since 2020,  it has been headed by Dr. of Medical Sciences, Yevhen I. Legach . More than 30 candidate and 2 doctoral dissertations have been prepared on the basis of the department.

RESEARCH DIRECTIONS

The department is engaged in the development of approaches to cryopreservation of multicellular objects, in particular, multicellular spheroids; studying the effective transplantation of native and cryopreserved endocrine gland cells to animals with experimental models of endocrine pathologies; obtaining tissue-specific stem/progenitor cells of endocrine glands for their further use in the practice of cultivation and transplantation; obtaining neural crest derived cells in the form of spheroids under 3D cultivation, their cryopreservation and studying the influence of secretomes from cryopreserved cultures on the course of neuroendocrine disorders.
