On 28 April 2026, the inaugural meeting of the Supervisory Board was held at the Institute for Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The Supervisory Board was established in accordance with Resolution No. 163 of the Bureau of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine dated 15 April 2026, “On Approval of the Regulations on the Supervisory Board at the Institute for Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Its Personal Composition.”
Dr. Yevhen H. Ivanov, Deputy Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration and Doctor of Biological Sciences, was elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
The Deputy Chairman is Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Volodymyr P. Semynozhenko, Vice President of the NAS of Ukraine and Head of the North-Eastern Scientific Center of the NAS and MES of Ukraine.
The Secretary of the Supervisory Board is Denys M. Chudak, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Organic Chemistry and Molecular Materials at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Chemistry of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
The Supervisory Board includes leading scientists, heads of higher education institutions in Kharkiv, representatives of state authorities, and the military‑medical sector:
- Svitlana L. Yefimova — Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine
- Tetiana Ye. Kahanovska — Rector of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Doctor of Law
- Oleksandr S. Kukhtenko — Rector of the National Pharmaceutical University, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Valerii V. Miasoiedov — Rector of Kharkiv National Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences
- Eduard M. Khoroshun — Head of the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Northern Region
- Valentyn A. Chebanov — Director of the Institute of Chemistry of Functional Materials of the State Research and Technology Complex “Institute for Single Crystals” of the NAS of Ukraine, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine
- and other members.
During the meeting, the participants approved the Development Strategy of the Institute presented by Professor Oleksandr Yu. Petrenko, Director of the Institute for Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine of the NAS of Ukraine, Doctor of Biological Sciences. The Supervisory Board also supported his candidacy for the position of Director.
Key decisions of the Supervisory Board included:
- recommendations to update the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine and the UNESCO Chair in Cryobiology;
- support for restoring the State Enterprise “Interdepartmental Scientific Center for Cryobiology and Cryomedicine” to provide military personnel and civilians with innovative regenerative medicine products;
- promotion of commercialization of scientific results, technology transfer, and investment attraction;
- preparation of cooperation memoranda with specialized higher education institutions;
- support for strengthening collaboration between the Institute and the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Northern Region.
The Supervisory Board also expressed its commitment to enhancing the Institute’s reputation as a national leader in cryobiology and cryomedicine.
The establishment of the Supervisory Board marks an important step toward strengthening independent public oversight, improving strategic management, and integrating the Institute into the modern scientific and socio‑economic landscape of Ukraine.
